Hello to all our supporters and followers!

We're taking this opportunity to share with you a little bit about the happenings at Saludos Niños since our last update.

Activities

Saludos Niños participated in the annual fair and parade in their village of Panyebar. The kids and teachers wore beautiful traditional Guatemalan clothing for the occasion.

This year, the teachers organized an exciting field trip and picnic for the kids in the countryside surrounding the village.

Playground Renovations & Repairs

Saludos Niños engaged local workers to complete some much need repairs to the play structure and parts of the building. The structure is now as good as new!

Teacher Training

Our teachers now attend two professional development workshops each year in Panajachel. It’s an excellent opportunity for them to meet other teachers in the area, learn new techniques, and develop new ideas.

Donations & Fundraising

Laura Massie of Wakefield, Quebec continues to raise funds for the program with her Yoga on the Bridge sessions, which take place on the Village's iconic covered bridge.

Sheila has been combining her two passions - making beautiful stone jewellery and selling her pieces to raise funds to Saludos Niños.

Dr. Kurtz (optomentrist) of Wakefield, Quebec has recently retired, but not before making another important donation of eyeglasses. Their office has also raised money by selling Guatemalan handcrafted eye glass chains and embroidered greeting cards.

The teachers are always so pleased to receive donations such as craft supplies, like the ones donated in the photo below.

Healthy Ideas

During our last visit, we learned that the local elementary school has started serving healthy snacks. It seems that the healthy snack and meal ideas at Saludos Niños are taking seed in the community, thanks to encouragement from Moms of the program.

Thank-You!

A big and sincere thanks to everyone who continues to support the small but incredibly successful Saludos Niños project! We couldn't do it without you.
